As far as I can tell there ARE different versions of plugins for different browsers. Re: Unable to use webcam with Flash Player. Disabling it would generally result in greater stability of both the browser and the Flash Player plugin.I have never had to set a Windows Environment Variable to disable the plugin container. It was just chance that I found this out.

it may be the root cause... So it seems that one thing that might fix my problem is simply getting a new webcam. Needless to say, the webcam works fine locally (in Cheese and Kamoso).
