No doubt vista checks this feature accessibility over BIOS at boot up, in order to verify "health" of the hard disk to proceed boot up with reliable data access. I let it stay there for a min or two. Many BSODs or Stop Errors come from a variety of causes, and some can be the result of either a hardware or a software problem. i was playing some games on the machine when all of a sudden it froze and the was like purple and green glitching on the screen i left it for and But when i insert the windows vista repair cd, the screen stays black en laptop does nothing.

I also tried to to get safe mode w/ n w/o command prompt but it showed a black screen as well. Now it's saying Restore Partition. Every time I start the computer, I keep getting this black screen on my windows vista laptop. The best thing to do is to change your NVIDIA card for a newer one or one of a different brand. My younger sister was using my laptop last night and now it will not start up. This CD (or key) contains many useful tools.
